Children

We welcome visitors! Visiting parents may stay in the classroom, or attend the adult service, whatever is most comfortable for you and your child(ren). Below is a bit about our program, although one of the best ways is to come and see for yourself. Our dress is casual, and we go outside and play nearly every Sunday, so don’t feel shy about wearing playclothes! Our aim is to have fun and make friends, as well as share the questions and the issues that children are wondering about.

There is a lot going on! Subscribe to the BVUUF listserv and receive the weekly “RE Happenings” emails about Sunday School topics as well as special activities for children and teens.

Themes

We choose a theme for each semester. It will be one of four, on a rotating basis. Click the theme to visit a page on the classes offered for that semester.

Our Jewish and Christian Heritage

Investigating our roots in the context of Unitarian Universalism. A good time to discuss those ticklish questions that come up, often from neighbor children conversations.

World Religions

Exploring Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and other faiths. Growing up UU means learning about the ways people around the world have answered the big questions about the meaning of life.

UU Identity

Learning about our long tradition of reason, questioning, good works and tolerance. Just what is a Unitarian Universalist?

Life Issues

Dealing with issues about justice, and our place in the interdependent web of life. This is also when we offer Our Whole Lives (OWL) the nationally renowned program on human sexuality.

Age Groups for Children

Both services (9:00 and 11:00 a.m.)

Register for children’s classes

Register for R.E. classes by filling out the Registration Form and Parent Responsibilities Sign Off form. Please register your child(ren) for RE if you plan to attend more than 3 times this year. We need to know which service (early or late) that you will be attending and if your child has any allergies or medical conditions we need to be aware of. In addition, your child will receive class mailings and a name tag. There is no fee for registering, but we recommend that you pledge generously to the UUF. Registration forms are also available in the hallway brochure rack.
