Youth Programs Coordinator
YoYouth Group (6th, 7th & 8th) meets at the 11:00 Service.
We have an active YoYouth Group of Middle Schoolers. We rotate Sundays of
- R.E. (Big Questions)
- Social Justice
- Fun (BOWLING! Etc,) and
- Worship
R.E. (Big Questions): Discussion, often using the book, “Big Questions” to get us started.
Social Justice: In the past, the group has offered a “Souper Sunday” selling soup for lunch to contribute to the national program of Souper Sundays. We’ve also gone to King Soopers to hand out bags for the Food Distribution Center as well as helped to clean up Rothman Open Space.
Fun: The Bowling Alley is just down the street!! We’ve also gone to the Rec Center nearby.
Worship: Attend the adult service, or help with the Children’s Chapel.
In addition, there are local retreats, overnights and socials, as well as the MDD Jr. High Retreat, in the winter which many attend.
9-12th Grades YRUU (Young Religious Unitarian Universalists)
The High School Group (Y.R.U.U.) meets after services on Sundays at 12:15 p.m. in the Barnum Room at UUF.
First Sundays: Long term Project work chosen by group.
Second Sundays: Justice work
Third Sundays: Movie and Discussion
Fourth Sundays: Games and Fun
Fifth Sundays: TBD

2008-2009 O.W.L Programs for Teens
7th/8th grade O.W.L. for 08/09 (7th grade only in the future)
27 sessions offered 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Sunday mornings
Tuition: $130.00 for members ($200.00 for non-members) sliding scale fee available.
This is the core offering of BVUUF’s O.W.L. program. It presents a comprehensive approach to human sexuality in an age-appropriate manner and is based firmly on the values of respect, responsibility, justice and inclusivity. It helps young people apply these values to their behavior and provides them with information and skills they can use throughout life. Jr. High O.W.L. includes a comprehensive parent orientation. It helps participants clarify their values and religious beliefs and emphasizes the worth and dignity of each participant.
Participants covenant to attend all sessions. After the orientation session, the class is closed to drop-ins and new participants. The sessions are offered approximately two or three times per month, over 10 months. Breaks are scheduled for holidays, long weekends and school vacations. Includes the book Changing Bodies, Changing Lives by Ruth Bell and members of the Teen Book Project.
NEW! 10-12th grade O.W.L. for 08/09
14 sessions offered 12:15 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoons
Tuition: $100.00 for members ($180.00 for non-members) sliding scale fee available.
This program uses four themes to address major topics in sexuality of interest to teens: 1. Sexual heath; 2. Lifespan sexuality, including gender roles and sexual orientation; 3. Building healthy sexual relationship; and 4. Sexuality and social issues. It is based firmly on the values of respect, responsibility, justice and inclusivity. Senior High O.W.L. includes a parent orientation. It helps participants clarify their values and religious beliefs and emphasizes the worth and dignity of each participant.
