Marcia Pasquer, Music Director

Marcia Pasquer has been music director at the BVUUF since 1993. Marcia’s life has been filled with music from a very young age. As a child, Marcia accompanied both church and high school singers, performed in state piano competitions, and was the lead accompanist for her high school orchestra.

After high school, Marcia attended Hastings College on a music scholarship, followed by undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. studies in French Language and Literature at CU Boulder. During her college years, Marcia was a violinist with the university orchestra.

After several years of university teaching at the University of Denver and Stanford, Marcia joined her husband in founding and directing the Denver International School—a bilingual and multi-cultural elementary school. Although the original purpose of the school was to educate their three children, the school continues to flourish to this day. Marcia has participated in the Boulder Chamber Music Society, serving as accompanist for various soloists in that group, and she was a member of a piano/clarinet/violin trio.

Marcia’s various connections in the Boulder music scene has resulted in many, many top-notch artists gracing the stage at the BVUUF.

Marlys Brinkman, Choral Director

The Fellowship Singers practice and perform under the direction of Marlys Brinkman, our choral director, and are accompanied by Julie Morris, pianist.

Stephanie Barnhizer, Office Administator

Stephanie joined the BVUUF in 1999, after many years of Unitarian Universalism germinating in the soil of her spiritual journey. She began a new chapter of her life at that time, which included moving from Summit County to Boulder. Her daughter, Kiva, was born within the first year, and the Fellowship provided crucial scaffolding as parenting began and professional career became less of a focus.

Stephanie nourishes the growth of the seed of her UUism through the “energy of action.” She has taken on a number of roles here in these eight years including leading Sunday Worship Services, teaching RE, and assisting in the administration of the office.

The Green Congregation Committee provides a channel to express her respect for the interdependent web, a calling that is growing stronger as our UU movement evolves. Currently, commitments to the Board of Trustees, our Mountain Desert District and, again, BVUUF office administration, are keeping life very full.

In 2004, Stephanie attended WUULF at Ghost Ranch; in 2005 was honored to represent our Fellowship at the Russell Lockwood Leadership School; and in 2006 attended GA in St. Louis. What’s next? She is anticipating continued richness here!
